How to cook Vathal kuzhambu / Spicy dried turkey berry curry

DRIED TURKEY BERRY CURRY/ VATHAL KUZHAMBU

Dried turkey berry curry is a tasty and spicy recipe in south indian cooking menu. For beginner in cooking , i have explained with step by step image. It will be use for easy learning and memorizing. In this dried turkey berry curry, no need vegetables and easy to prepare. We prepare only using spicy items.



Ingredients:

To roast and grind
  • Gingili oil -1 tsp
  • Chana dal -2 tsp
  • urad dal-2tsp
  • Sesame-1tsp
  • Fenugreek -1tsp
  • Asafoetida-a pinch
  • Pepper-1 tsp
       coconut-6 slice (no need to roast)
       cumin seeds-1tsp (no need to roast)

To temper
  • Gingili oil
  • onion- 2(optional)
  • mustard seeds-1tsp
  • Curry leaves - 2 sprigs of leaves
 To Roast
  • Dried turkey berry- 12-15
      Water
      Tamarind paste
      Kuzhambu masala powder
      Salt to taste

Method

Step1
 First roast all listed items and allow to leave hot. Then Grind this items and keep aside.

Step2
Heat the oil in a pan and  add dried turkey berry and roast well until getting golden brown. Keep aside

Step3
Heat the oil in a pan and add all tempering items .Saute a minutes . Add kuzhambu masala powder and tamarind paste and also water.  Bring to boil. After boiling this, add ground paste and  roasted dried turkey berry.Add salt to taste and cook well until getting gravy method. Finally add gingili oil for enrich taste.

Note:

You can be add dried turkey berry with tempering items. So no need to separate  dried turkey berry roasting.
